Applied Research Scientist Specialising in Natural Language Processing

Hi! I’m Lisa, an Applied Research Scientist at Thomson Reuters Labs, doing different kinds of NLP-related things.

Previously, I was a researcher at TartuNLP (a.k.a. Natural Language Processing Research Group at the Institute of Computer Science, University of Tartu), where I am also wrapping up my PhD. Most of my research there was on machine translation (MT): open-source data and models for translation from/into Estonian, neurotõlge.ee, multi-domain MT, etc. I’ve also worked on a few exciting NLP projects as a research engineer at Clarifai. And before all that, my road to NLP started from studying Applied Linguistics for my Bachelor’s degree.

In my free time, I enjoy running, and, whenever I get a chance, other outdoor sports, such as hiking or cross-country skiing.
